This isn’t a normal trip for me/us. We are heading up to Ohio to buy a boat trailer. “James, don’t they have trailers in South Carolina?” Yes, yes we do, however they are either much more expensive, not available in time, or won’t fit the boat. I tried all summer to find a trailer that would fit, even bought one I thought did, I was wrong. So here we are, driving 9 hours to Troy Ohio, to buy a trailer.
I did find out something interesting during the process, Toyota dealerships rent vehicles. They even rent trucks and allow towing. The rates are good too. I can see myself using this for more of my personal rentals in the future. The only downside is that everything is done over the phone, the hours are standard business hours, and the location isn’t that convenient.
Anyway, let’s get into this boring, but nice, hotel.

Welcome to Home2 Suites Troy. This hotel is right off I75, as with my other Covid hotel experiences, I’m not really looking for hotels with good restaurants near by. It doesn’t really matter these days.

As usual, I’m avoiding the lobby and letting myself in to the stair well with the Hilton App. I do really like this feature.

Walking in to the hallway I get the feeling that this hotel is very new. My suspicions were correct, this hotel is less than 3 months old. With most hotels, newer is better, I don’t usually disagree.

Into our room, single king bed. I like the Home 2 setup, it keeps it simple. Suites with separate rooms are nice, but these are good enough.

Modern hotel with lots of outlets both 110v and USB. Both sides of the bed too.

This room does have a desk, chair, and closet area. We didn’t use any of it. No need, we’re just here for the night.

Nice large TV. This was also interesting as you could control the TV from the Hilton App, not just cast from an app, you could control the power, a sleep timer, and the channel guide . We could also control things like certain lights in the room. I really like IOT and the future of how we will soon be more connected.

I do like the separate sitting area. Makes the room a little nicer when you have to spend time in the hotel. BC(before COVID) I never spent much time in the room, these days I hate how much time I have to spend in the room. I’d rather be safe than sorry though.

The kitchenette is great at Home2, this hotel is no exception. We made good use of the full size fridge. We packed a picnic lunch for the next day so we wouldn’t need to stop.

The bathroom was very clean. New hotels are like that. Nothing fancy here, generic hotel bathroom.

I do prefer the stall shower to the tub bath. That seems pretty common in modern hotels anyway.
Final Thoughts

With our prize in tow, we checked out and hit the road. I do like the addition of IOT devices in the room, Hilton seems to be on top of its game when it comes to technology adoption. This hotel is great for the price. It’s nice, new, and very boring.
