I’m heading to the Raleigh Cary NC area for work. This time I’m staying at the Homewood Suites in the Cary area, just to the Southwest of Raleigh. This trip is scheduled to last 4 nights, so I chose the Homewood because I’d like to have a larger work space and living area while I’m out of town. The location is also very convenient for my work site. It’s importante to note there are two Homewood Suites in close proximity to each other, this review is of Homewood Suites Raleigh Cary I-40. Yes, they use the freeway designation in the name of the hotel.
The Homewood Raleigh Cary I40 ended up being a great choice for this trip. The room was large, clean, and well stocked with amenities. The hotel felt like new, and I almost always enjoy staying at a brand new hotel. This Homewood Suites in Cary NC felt a lot like the Homewood in West Chester Ohio that I reviewed earlier this year. That makes sense, suburbia going to suburbia. The Homewood is also right around the corner from Courtyard Marriott that I stayed at and reviewed last year.
If I return to the Raleigh Cary area, I’d gladly stay at the Homewood Suites again.

Homewood Suites Raleigh Cary I40 Location
The Homewood Suites, as the name would imply, is just off I-40 in the Cary suburb of Raleigh. This is just at the intersection of I-440 and I-40 South West of Raleigh. In the area there are plenty of restaurants and bars. This would also be a good choice of hotel if you’re visiting NC State.
Homewood Suites Raleigh Cary Exterior and Lobby
I arrived at the Homewood Suites and parked in the back parking lot. I’ve checked in on the Hilton App so I don’t need to stop by the front desk, I have a digital key that I can use at the side door and to enter my room. This is one area that Hilton really is better than most of their competitors, digital keys are widespread and easy to use.
I checked out the lobby on my way out of the hotel going to dinner. It was a very nice space with plenty of seating.
This lobby space is much nicer than I would expect from a Homewood suites. There’s a little market with some snacks and drinks. In the back is the breakfast area.
Homewood Suites Raleigh Cary King Room Review
I walked into the very large, bright, and clean Homewood Suites King room. The room is isn’t really divided but does have 3 areas. The bed area, the living room, and the kitchen.
In the sitting area is a sofa and ottoman. I’m going to be here for 4 nights, it’s nice to have an area to relax after work instead of just sitting on the bed.
Looking back towards the door, there is a desk and tall side table. This is a work trip for me, I used the desk every night.
Across from the sofa is the king bed. I found this bed to be very comfortable, I especially liked the pillows. There’s also outlets to charge devices on both sides of the bed.
Between the sitting area and the bed is the TV. It swivels so that you can watch TV from the bed, sofa, or the desk.
Homewood Suites Raleigh Cary Kitchen
Next to the door, there is nearly a full kitchen in each room at the Homewood Sites. There’s a full size fridge, microwave, 2 burner cook top, sink, and dishwasher.
The kitchen was also pretty well stocked. There’s some pots and pans to cook with.

Various kitchen implements like a can opener, measuring cups, and a corkscrew.
The dishwasher was also full of dishes, classes, and utensils. They were clean, just not put away into the cabinets. This isn’t uncommon in hotels with a dishwasher in the room.
While I don’t think you’d want to live with it, the small stove top and sink would be great if you were staying here long term or had an event to attend. There’s certainly enough here in the kitchen to keep you comfortable.
Homewood Suites Raleigh Cary Bathroom
The bathroom is just off the bed area. One thing to note, the sink area doesn’t have a door between it and the bed. So if you’re staying here with two people, and one person needs to use the bathroom in the night, hand washing might be a little annoying with the lights.
The separate shower and toilet area does have a door, and I like the shower instead of a tub.
The bathroom was very clean and well appointed. The floor isn’t real marble, but it’s a decent tile.

The room view isn’t anything to look forward to. Just suburban parking lots and other mass market hotels.
Homewood Suites Raleigh Cary Breakfast
As with all Homewood Suites, there is a free breakfast offered. Nothing remarkable, there are a few hot options. I had cereal.
Homewood Suites Raleigh Cary Final Thoughts
The Homewood Suites Raleigh Cary I40 was a great hotel for me this week. I liked the large rooms, the kitchen, and the overall cleanliness of the hotel. The Homewood location is good if you’re visiting the Raleigh Cary area. This hotel is a good choice if you’re going to visit NC State too. There’s not too much I’d attempt to walk to from this hotel, but there are lots of restaurant options within a short drive. The hotel breakfast isn’t anything special, but is included so that’s more of a time saver in the mornings for breakfast eaters than anything else.
Between the Homewood Suites and the Courtyard Marriott that’s just down the road, I’d chose the Homewood Suites. I think it’s a better hotel if the costs are the same.
