I’m visiting Fairfield New Jersey for a work trip. For this trip, it was recommended that I stay at the Hampton Inn here in Fairfield New Jersey. I do find it a little funny that I’m staying at a Hampton Inn in Fairfield, but I’m probably one of the few who finds that funny. This was a quick trip and I’m only at the Hampton for one night, but I found the hotel very nice.
Bottom Line: If you’re in Fairfield New Jersey, the Hampton Inn is a great choice. The rooms were large and clean. The hotel has free breakfast, a bar, and restaurant. The area is generic suburbia, but there are a few good restaurant options that are nearby. I’d gladly stay at the Hampton Inn Fairfield again.
Hampton Inn Fairfield NJ Location
The Hampton Inn Fairfield New Jersey is located on US-46 just off the I-80 Freeway. It’s about a 35 minute drive from the Newark Airport in good traffic. This area really isn’t walk-able in any way, you’ll need a car. Even to just walk across the street feels very unsafe, there’s just no infrastructure in place to allow it.
The good news is there are plenty of restaurants in the area, the bad news is that you have to drive there. I had dinner at Fairfield Falafel House and it was pretty good. I think next visit I’d try out the pizza place next door.
Hampton Inn Fairfield NJ Lobby and Check-in
I arrived at the Hampton Inn in the evening. There was plenty of parking in the surrounding lot. Driving in this part of New Jersey is a little annoying, lots of jug handle turns and no turn intersections.
I was impressed with the lobby at the Hampton Inn, I was mostly expecting a generic hotel. What I found was a very nice space that was much more welcoming and contained a restaurant and bar. Both seemed to be very popular later in the evening. I checked in at the front desk that is off to the left.
This area is also the breakfast buffet in the morning, but right now it’s an Italian restaurant called Calandra’s Mediterranean Grill.
Hampton Inn Fairfield NJ Two Queen Room Review
I made my way to my room on the 3rd floor. I’m in a two queen room, not really by choice, mostly because this was the cheapest and I really don’t care that much either way.
The room was large and clean. This is an older hotel, but it’s clearly been updated and then well maintained. The two queen beds are separated by a night stand, across from them is the TV, desk, and luggage stand.
Looking back at the beds from the window. This is a large room, there is a bit of a dead space near the floor lamp.
Looking at the TV and desk area from the beds. I made good use of the desk area. Under the TV was a microwave, fridge, and small coffee maker.
On the wall next to the mirror and luggage rack was a coat hook set.
Hampton Inn Fairfield NJ Bathroom
The bathroom at the Hampton Inn Fairfield was very nice, it was stocked will all the amenities you’d expect. This hotel uses individual use soaps, not the bulk style that has become more popular.
The shower was a stand up stall shower. I also much prefer this to a tub. Here at the Hampton it was very clean with good water pressure.
Hampton Inn Fairfield NJ Room View
This being suburbia, it shouldn’t be a surprise that the room view is of a parking lot. The parking lot next door is an auto auction, it didn’t make any noise so I don’t really care.
Hampton Inn Fairfield NJ Room Service Menu
I don’t think I’ve ever seen a Hampton Inn with a full restaurant that offered room service. I didn’t partake, so I cannot judge the quality, but the restaurant was certainly busy.
Hampton Inn Fairfield NJ Free Breakfast
Like all Hampton Inn Hotels, there is a free breakfast buffet offered in the lobby. There are a few hot options like eggs and waffles, but I’m boring so I just had Honey Nut Cheerios.
Hampton Inn Fairfield NJ Final Thoughts
The Hampton Inn of Fairfield NJ is a nice hotel if you’re in the area. Obviously this isn’t a destination for vacations, but I’m here for work, if you are too, the Hampton Inn is a solid choice. The rooms are large, the hotel is very clean, and the location is convenient to lots of restaurants. Sadly you’ll pretty much always need a car, but the drive is short.
In nice weather the Hampton Inn Fairfield even has an outdoor lounge area that would be great for relaxing after work. If and when I travel back to Fairfield New Jersey, I’ll end up staying here again.
